Dr. Joe Saliba

Otolaryngologist | ENT surgeon

Dr. Joe Saliba is an otolaryngologist (ENT surgeon) specialized in neuro-otology. He has unique expertise in ear and skull base disorders, ranging from hearing loss and vertigo to vestibular schwannomas and cochlear implants. He practices at the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) and serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Université de Montréal. In addition to training medical students and ENT residents, he is the Director of the Temporal Bone Dissection Laboratory, where he teaches ear surgery through cadaveric simulation. 

Dr. Joe Saliba graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University, where he was awarded the prestigious Holmes Gold Medal, presented to the student with the highest cumulative average in the Faculty. He then completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at McGill, earning multiple awards and becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. He also pursued a Master of Science degree at McGill in collaboration with Stanford University in California, studying musical perception in cochlear implant patients. He subsequently completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Neuro-otology and Skull Base Surgery at the University of California – San Diego. 

Dr. Joe Saliba joined the Université de Montréal and the ENT team at CHUM as a surgeon and professor in 2019. He has authored dozens of scientific publications and has participated as an expert and invited speaker in numerous panels, conferences, and symposiums. He is also passionate about medical education, as demonstrated by the prestigious CHUM Distinguished Teaching Award he received in 2023. 

Dr. Joe Saliba joined the Odyo team as Medical Director in 2022, driven by a strong belief in our mission: to improve access to hearing care. In this role, he works to advance the use of technology and mobility to enhance access to hearing assessments, hearing protection, and amplification solutions. He is also dedicated to simplifying and explaining the science of otology, making it understandable and accessible not only to his patients but also to anyone affected by auditory or vestibular disorders. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Joe Saliba enjoys soccer and sailing. He is also the proud father of three young boys. 

Outside of his medical career, Dr. Joe Saliba is a devoted father, treasuring his time with his three young boys. His passion for soccer and sailing reflects his belief in the importance of staying active and embracing the outdoors, balancing the intensity of his work with moments of play and relaxation.
